VA Butler Healthcare

About this Facility

VA Butler Healthcare provides primary care, behavioral health, specialized extended care, physical rehabilitation medicine, and residential substance abuse treatment serving over 18,000 veterans in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.  The facility operates 60 nursing home care beds, 10 compensated work therapy, and 56 domiciliary beds.  The outpatient programs generate approximately 125,000 visits per year.  Specialized care is available through the following programs:  respite care, homeless veterans program, mental hygiene clinic, home based primary care, community health care, hospice, and adult day health care.

 

VA Butler Healthcare’s facility is located on an 88-acre campus three miles northwest of Butler, PA on Route 356 (New Castle Road).  The medical center is part of the VA Healthcare - VISN 4 network, which includes 9 other VA facilities in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia.

 

VA Butler Healthcare also operates four community based outpatient clinics that provide veterans with convenient access to care in their community.  These clinics include:

 

Community-Based Outpatient Clinics

 

  • Armstrong County VA Outpatient Clinic   is located on the grounds of Armstrong County Hospital in Kittanning, PA.  This clinic provides contracted primary care and VA behavioral health services to nearly 1200 patients residing primarily in Armstrong County and eastern Butler County.  This CBOC is 23 miles from VA Butler Healthcare.
  • Clarion County VA Outpatient Clinic   is located in the AC Valley Medical Center just outside of historic Foxburg, PA.  The clinic provides contracted primary care and VA behavioral health services to approximately 1000 veterans residing in Clarion County, southern Venango County, and northern Butler County.  This CBOC is 33 miles from VA Butler Healthcare.
  • Lawrence County VA Outpatient Clinic   is located in New Castle, PA.  The clinic currently serves over 1200 veterans in Mercer County.  The clinic is VA staffed and offers primary care and behavioral health services.  This CBOC is 22 miles from VA Butler Healthcare.
  • Mercer County VA Outpatient Clinic   is located in Hermitage, PA.  Serving veterans in Mercer County, Pennsylvania and portions of eastern Ohio, this VA staffed clinic operates five days a week and serves nearly 1800 veterans.  The clinic provides primary care, behavioral health including tele-psychiatry, and physical therapy.  A Home Based Primary Care team is also based at this location providing home care services to veterans residing within 30 miles of the clinic.  This CBOC is 47 miles from VA Butler Healthcare.
