Youth Volunteer Program
Youth can choose from such as escorting, clerical support and shuttle service to name a few. A complete listing of the assignments is included in the Summer Youth Volunteer Program Packet.
Are you 14 or older and want to do something meaningful this summer? Do you want to get a head start on community service projects for school? VA Butler Healthcare can help you do just that. Youth are invited to participate in VA Butler Healthcare’s Voluntary Services Annual Summer Youth Volunteer Program that runs from June through September.
The focus for this year’s program is “Special Assignments” with 12 areas of interest that youth can choose from such as escorting, clerical support and shuttle service to name a few. A complete listing of the assignments is included in the Summer Youth Volunteer Program Packet. To volunteer, youth must complete the Summer Youth Volunteer Program Packet and attend an orientation held at VA Butler Healthcare. Orientations consist of a TB Test, fingerprinting and a general training on areas such as infection control, wheelchair usage and safety. Completed packets are due into the Voluntary Services office five business days prior to the scheduled orientation date. Orientation dates and times for the summer program are:
- Tuesday, June 7, 2011 8am – 12pm
- Saturday, June 18, 2011 8am – 12pm
- Tuesday, June 28, 2011 8am – 12pm
The Summer Youth Volunteer Program Packet can be mailed, e-mailed or downloaded from VA Butler’s website www.butler.va.gov in the “volunteer or donate” section. Youth volunteers may continue their volunteer service throughout the year supporting activities in the evening, weekends, and days when school is not in session or cancelled.
