Interim Director

Sharon Coyle was appointed as the Interim Director on June 16, 2019. She previously served as the Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive at the Butler VA Health Care System since April 2007. Ms. Coyle came to Butler from the VA Pittsburgh Health Care System (VAPHS) where she held multiple positions including leadership and in increasing levels of responsibility. At Butler VA she serves as Nurse Executive, having direct supervisory responsibility for multiple clinical programs including the 60 bed Community Living Center (CLC). In addition, she maintains clinical oversight for nursing practice throughout the facility. Ms. Coyle earned a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh PA, and a Masters Degree in Nursing as well as a Masters Degree in Business from Waynesburg College, Waynesburg PA.

Associate Director for Operations

Ms. Rebecca Wolfe was appointed to serve as the Associate Director for Operations for the Butler VA Health Care System, effective June 3, 2012. Ms. Wolfe came to Butler VA from the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) where she served as the Vice President of Community Based Care since March 2008. She began her career at VAPHS in 1998 as a social worker. Her experiences also include Chief of the VA Mental Health Clinic in Grand Rapids, Michigan and manager of the Home and Community Care Line at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Ms. Wolfe received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Psychology/Sociology from Carlow College. She obtained her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, and earned her master's degree in Business Administration at Waynesburg College. Ms. Wolfe is also a graduate of the Executive Career Field Program.

Kimberly Ripper, MS, Acting Associate Director for Patient Care Services

Acting Associate Director for Patient Care Services

Ms. Ripper began her VA career in 2004 as a staff RN in the Acute Care/ICU at Butler VA Health Care System. She has served in multiple positions during her VA career at Butler including CLC Nurse Manager, Patient Safety Manager and the Director of Quality, Safety & Value. Ms. Ripper also served as the Interim Nurse Executive at Altoona VAMC from August through December 2018. Ms. Ripper earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Slippery Rock University in 2007 and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh PA, in 2011. She is a graduate of the First VHA Improvement Advisory Academy and served as an improvement advisor for collaboratives in Altoona, Butler, Pittsburgh, and Puerto Rico. Ms. Ripper is also a graduate of the VA Healthcare Leadership Development Program.

Jo-Anne Suffoletto, MD, MSc, Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff

Effective November 11, 2018, Jo-Anne Suffoletto, MD, MSc, was appointed as Chief of Staff at the Butler VA Health Care System. Dr. Suffoletto received her MD from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine, and completed her Internal Medicine residency-Women’s Health Track at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She served as a Chief Medical Resident at UPMC prior to joining the Internal Medicine faculty within the Division of General Internal Medicine at UPMC and VAPHS. Dr. Suffoletto joined the VAPHS medical staff in 2008. She served as the Associate Chief of Staff for Education and Innovative Learning and Medical Director of the Simulation Program at VA Pittsburgh since 2013. Dr. Suffoletto also holds a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She has served as a champion of medical education, systems improvement, and the Just Culture initiative at VA Pittsburgh. Dr. Suffoletto served as Interim Chief of Staff at the Butler VA since July 9, 2018.
