New HCC Ahead of Schedule!

HCC Construction Site

Construction of the new Health Care Center (HCC) is approximately six months ahead of schedule, set to be completed by summer 2017 and officially opening for Veterans in fall 2017!

This past spring, VA Butler Healthcare held the official Topping Out Ceremony to celebrate the construction progress of the new Health Care Center. Since the event, construction has continued to excel at the site as window installation, site paving and curbing, and drywall installation has begun, and interior framing on all levels and the utility wall rough-ins on all levels continues. The brick veneer is expected to be completed later this month.

“The Topping Out of the new Health Care Center was an exciting milestone for Butler, and seeing the progression since has been outstanding” said David Cord, VA Butler Director. “The HCC will enhance and improve the outpatient health care environment for our Veterans and their families and will provide new space for all outpatient services and support staff.”

The completed HCC will be a silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), two-story building with 168,000 square feet located at 353 North Duffy Road, Butler, PA, approximately 1.4 miles away from the main Butler campus. It will include primary care, specialty care, mental health, dental, diagnostic, laboratory, pathology, radiology, podiatry, optometry, pharmacy, physical rehabilitation, and women’s health.

“Veterans will be easily able to navigate the new facility as all clinical services will be provided on the ground floor,” added Cord. “The HCC will also allow for the expansion of clinics as our Veteran utilization increases.”

Cherie Hawryliak, VA Butler’s HCC Program Manager is also excited to see the continued construction progress. “We are very blessed to get a new building like this in Butler County—for everyone in Butler, but especially for our VA staff and our deserving Veterans,” commented Hawryliak. “This new facility will provide our Veterans with the health care they need and deserve, and knowing that and being a part of that is an amazing feeling.”

Veterans and the community can keep up-to-date on HCC construction progress by visiting www.butler.va.gov/news/building.asp, which includes a live-camera update direct from the construction site. Quarterly town halls are also scheduled for Veterans and the community to discuss the new Health Care Center and address any questions, with the next one to occur this fall.
