VA2K to Support Homeless Veterans and Promote Health and Exercise

Butler, PA – VA Butler Healthcare will host the 7th Annual VA2K Walk and Roll on May 17 from 11am-3pm outside VA Butler’s Auditorium. The VA2K Walk and Roll is dedicated to supporting homeless Veterans while also encouraging healthy activity. VA employees, Veterans, and other community members will join together to collect donated items and promote health and exercise. The event is free and open to the general public.

“The VA2K is a great way for our staff to take a few minutes out of their day to improve their personal health and get some exercise,” said David Cord, VA Butler Healthcare’s Director. “Last year was our best year yet! VA Butler received 4,435 donated items and won a national award for the most participants for a facility our size. This year, we want to continue our success and get as many people moving as possible!”

After instructed pre-event stretching, this year’s event will include a kick-off at 11am with VA Butler’s Leadership Team and the Butler County American Legion Riders. Local artist, Tom Panei, will perform acoustically from 11:30am – 1:30pm. After participating, attendees can enjoy a low-cost lunch sponsored by VA Butler’s Employee Activity Association.

VA Butler’s event is just one of approximately 200 VA2K events taking place May 17 at other VA facilities across the country. While not required to participate, a donation is an excellent opportunity to support VA and its initiative to end homelessness among Veterans.

For additional information and event details, please contact VA Butler’s VA2K coordinator, Karen Dunn at 800-362-8262, ext. 2292 or via email at Karen.Dunn2@va.gov.
