Adult Day Health Care (ADHC)

The Adult Day Health Care Program is an organized program of activities during the day in a community group setting. The purpose of this program is to support the personal independence of older Veterans and promote social, physical and emotional well-being.

The Adult Day Health Care Program emphasizes a shared partnership with the participant, the family, their primary care physician and the community – that works to maintain personal independence.

Adult Day Health Care provides:

  • Veterans an opportunity to venture outside of their home and enjoy preplanned social interactions
  • Caregivers an opportunity to restand enjoy a break from providing constant care at home

Eligibility: To be eligible to receive care in the Butler VA’s Adult Day Health Care Program, a Veteran must be:

  • honorably discharged
  • currently enrolled for VA care

Veterans who have been recently discharged from the Butler VA or who have been referred from a community medical facility are eligible for the Butler VA's Adult Day Health Care Program.

To participate in Adult Day Health Care at the Butler VA, a Veteran’s medical condition must be manageable on an outpatient basis —and they must be in need of support to continue living at home. Veterans are able to continue in the Adult Day Health Care Program as long as they are physically able to attend, meet the admission criteria and continue to benefit from attending.
