Your health care team is committed to educating you about your health and keeping you informed so that you become proactive in preventing disease and maintaining good health. We are committed to raising the awareness of healthy behaviors and encouraging and supporting Veterans in their efforts to adopt healthy lifestyles. To facilitate this, nine “Healthy Living” messages were developed:

A diagnosis of diabetes can be overwhelming. VA Butler Healthcare is here to offer support. VA Butler Healthcare has the tools, resources, and programs available to help Veterans manage their diabetes. VA Butler offers a monthly Diabetes Self-Management Education Program where Veterans are provided with the information they need to control their diabetes and ways to slow down or prevent complications of the disease. MOVE! is the national VA Weight Management Program that focuses on healthy lifestyle changes by eating right and getting exercise regularly. There are several program options available, ranging from group and individual sessions to in-home and telephone programs. The MOVE! My HealtheVet is VA’s award-winning online Personal Health record, located at that offers Veterans, active duty service members and registered users anywhere, anytime, Internet access to health care information, resources, and wellness tools. My HealtheVet is the gateway to web-based health education and online services – including a privacy-protected message service that allows you to communicate non-urgent health-related information with your VA health care team. VA Butler provides one-on-one nutrition counseling for Veterans referred by their Primary Care Provider. Registered Dietitians can help you to better understand how the food you eat influences your health, and they will work with you on changes you can make toward improving your health. If you are interested in an appointment with a Dietitian, please talk to your health care team for a referral.

Tobacco harms nearly every organ of the body, and causes one in five deaths in the United States alone. To help Veterans quit tobacco use, VA Butler offers regular Tobacco Cessation Classes and Tobacco Cessation Support Groups. VA Butler Healthcare offers Veterans free, weekly fitness classes in VA Butler's Wellness Center. Classes range from cardio and yoga to martial arts and meditation. The classes are provided free of charge to our Veterans, but Veterans must pre-register before attending classes. Interested in exercising at the Veteran’s Wellness Center? Contact your health care team today. Once you are approved to participate, you will be notified by phone. Wellness Center Hours for Veterans are Monday-Friday from 6am-9pm and Saturday 7am-1pm. A personal trainer is available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8am-10am.
