Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Service is a physician directed, interdisciplinary team treatment process designed to increase independence and improve quality of life for persons with disabilities. VA Butler Healthcare offers both inpatient and outpatient services that include:
Balance Clinic
Provides evaluation and treatment on the Smart Balance System for Veterans with symptoms of dizziness, lightheadedness, imbalance, and/or falls. The system helps restore balance quickly by providing interactive, motivating, and goal-directed exercises, as well as treatment progress and functional outcomes.
Kinesiotherapy
Provides treatment programs to improve patient functionality, including therapeutic exercise, mobility training, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Driver Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and Spinal Cord Injury.
Occupational Therapy
Provides goal-directed treatment utilizing a variety of techniques and activities to improve functional daily skills, upper extremity range of motion, muscle strength, coordination, balance, endurance, and visual-perceptual skills.
Physical Therapy
Provides services to Veterans who have experienced changes in physical function and health by developing an individualized treatment plan which may include prescribing exercise and activities to improve movement, facilitate independence, and regain quality of life. In addition to physical therapy, we provide back conditioning, driving evaluations, and pain school.
Recreation Therapy (Community Living Center and Domiciliary)
Utilizes leisure education, therapy, recreation participation, and complementary medicine to improve physical function; enhance well-being; increase or maintain independence; develop healthy coping techniques; enhance or maintain social involvement; and manage pain and stress.
